If you are a teenager, it is very important to take good care of your smile each day. Cavities aren’t just for little children—cavities can affect smiles at any age, which is why we strongly recommend that you do everything you can to keep your oral health in tip-top shape. To help you care for your smile, we recommend doing the following things:

· Keep up on oral hygiene: Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, floss your smile once a day, and rinse your mouth daily with mouthwash. Doing these things will help you prevent cavities and gum disease and they will help you maintain a strong oral health.

· Take care of your smile: It’s very important that you avoid eating sugary or starchy snacks. These products can cause tooth decay. We also recommend that you wear a mouthguard while you are active and you refrain from piercing any part of your mouth. Lastly, we strongly encourage you to resist smoking.

· Visit your dentist: For the best oral health and smile possible, you need to visit your dentist every six months for a routine dental cleaning and checkup. These appointments are vital if you want to completely prevent gum disease as well as maintain a beautiful and healthy smile.

· Take care of your braces: If you have braces, it’s very important that you take care of them. Make sure you brush and floss after every meal and snack and you stay away from habits that can break your appliance.
